Make It Stick +
A well-designed and well-printed label is nothing if it’s not also applied well.
It’s very important you follow our guide for proper application to ensure your label looks great and adheses properly.
Location, Location, Location
A cleaned, dry surface on your product is a great home for your label.
Also, the flatter the surface the better. The fewer crevices, bumps, lumps or imperfections, the better the adhesion.
Cleaning is a MUST
Labels will NOT stick to grubby, moist or oily surfaces.
(** HINT … your hands are oily, therefore the surface you’ve been handling is oily!)
For this reason, you must clean your surface before applying your label.
Use an Isopropyl alcohol wipe (IPA) to prepare products for labelling. These remove grease, oil and dust from a product, evaporate quickly and they don't leave a mark.
But, do be sure to check the product can have IPA applied to it before using this cleaning method.
And remember, even worse than dust and debris, is moisture. Water or any type of moisture will prevent your label from sticking. So ensure the product is completely dry and at room temperature before applying your label.
Application
Make sure not to touch the sticky part of the label as you carefully remove it from the backing paper.
Firmly and evenly press the label into place. Start from the middle and work your way out to ensure it lays flat and without air bubbles.
Patience is a virtue
It is important that once you've applied your label to the container, you then leave it for 72 hours to cure in a neutral/room temperature and low humidity environment. This enables the adhesive to bond most effectively.
